I went to Dauphin Island with a couple of friends on October 18th, 2016. We got there in time to shoot the sunset but it was a huge disappointment. We did get to shoot a few bird photographs before it got dark. We parked on the west end and walked a couple hundred yards down the beach and setup our gear. We didn’t have to wait long before it was dark enough to faintly see the Milky Way with our naked eye. Camera settings for these images was around 15 seconds at f4 at ISO 3200. I shined a small flashlight on the foreground for a split second.
